 WHAM Spring 2010 Programs

WHAM Spring 2010 programs are now accepting registration (see links below). Please register by March 26, 2010. Registration is first come, first served, and will remain open until programs are full. Deduct $10 per program if registration is made by March 19, 2010.

PROGRAM A:  WHAM SPRING RECREATIONAL LEAGUE

Cost:    $85.00/person (6 weeks, each person will play one game per week)

Ice times: Mondays, 6:30-7:45 p.m. or 8:00-9:15 p.m.

Dates: April 5 - May 10, 2010

This program is designed for women of all levels, from new to advanced. Each player will be assigned to a team of 6 women that will be combined with another team of 6 women so that each team plays with and against the other teams of 6 thereby facilitating contact among more players. This league is a great way to get to know other WHAM members. WHAM will strive to build teams that are roughly equal in their mix of skill levels. Teams and game schedules will be determined after registration. Each player will need a WHITE jersey and a DARK jersey. This league is limited to 24 players.

PROGRAM B:  WHAM SPRING "PICK YOUR SIX" LEAGUE

Cost:    $85.00/person (6 weeks, each person will play one game per week)

Ice times: Mondays, 6:30-7:45 p.m. or 8:00-9:15 p.m.

Dates: April 5 - May 10, 2010

This program is designed for women of intermediate and advanced skill levels and experience to play at their level in a recreational environment. Each player will be part of a team organized in one of two ways: (1) 6 women who choose to play as a team and who organize themselves with a team name and a captain, OR (2) 6 women assigned to play together (by the WHAM team building committee) from individuals who register for the program. Each team of 6 will be combined with another team of 6 for each game and will play against another team so constructed. Team and game schedules will be determined after registration. Each player will need a WHITE jersey and a DARK jersey. This league is limited to 24 players.

PROGRAM C:  WHAM SPRING CO-RECREATIONAL LEAGUE

Cost:    $85.00/person (6 weeks, each person will play one game per week)

Ice times: Wednesdays, 6:30-7:45 p.m. and 8:00-9:15 p.m.

Dates: April 7 - May 12, 2010

This program is designed for women and men of all skill levels and it is intended to be a relaxed, recreational league.  No slap shots are allowed in the Co-Rec League, and anyone who engages in fighting or other unsportsmanlike behavior will be ejected from the league.  Each player will be assigned to a team, and WHAM will strive to build teams that are roughly equal in their mix of skill levels.  Teams and game schedules will be determined after registration.  Each player will need a WHITE jersey and a DARK jersey.

Tournament format:

• Round robin
• 2 brackets based on seeding from the season  using the following system.
  • 6 points for a win
  • 3 points for a tie
  • 1 point for each goal scored up to 3
  • 1 point for no goals allowed
  • Maximum 10 points awarded per game
  • If a team forfeits, the opponent receives 10 points
  • In the event there is more than 1 team with the same amount of points after the completion of all the games, the following tiebreaker rules will be put into effect.
    • Goal differential:  goals for minus goals against
    • Most goals scored up to a maximum of 3 per game
    • Fewest goals allowed
    • Head to head
• In the event of a three way tie, the tiebreaker will be in effect once 1 team has been eliminated, the tiebreaker will begin again for the remaining two teams.
• The brackets were determined by season records (through 2/28 and guesstimated based on the memories of the two teams involved where there were no records) using the above procedure with teams ranking 1st, 3d, 5th, and 7th in the Friday bracket and 2d, 4th, 6th, and 8th in the Sunday bracket.
• Games are scheduled 40 minutes apart. There will be two 15 minute periods, a 5 minute warm up, a short break between periods to switch ends <2 1/2 minutes, and a necessary quick exit.  IN ORDER TO GET THIS ALL DONE SO EVERYONE GETS THEIR USUAL 60 MINUTES ON THE ICE, EVERYONE NEEDS TO BE ON TIME.
• There will be a ZAM between games 3 & 4.

Points using the system above will be used to determine opponents for the games on Friday, March 19, 2010 and Sunday, March 21, 2010.  Those will be regular full length games with the following schedule:

The assignment of goalies has not yet been made.  Every effort will be made to make those assignments equitable.

 Presenting the 2010 GIR/MAYHA/GHL Harley Davidson Raffle Fundraiser

Flanagan Motors has donated a 2009 Harley Davidson 1200 motorcycle ($10,000 value) to GIR/MAYHA and we are going to raffle it off! The raffle started Friday 1/15 and will end Saturday April 3rd. $10 tickets, 3 tickets for $25, 5000 ticket limit.

• 2nd prize -32GB IPOD Touch
• 3rd prize -Coca Cola Refrigerator
• 4th prize -Noon’s $50 (2) gas cards
• 5th prize -Southgate mall $100 gift card

Ticket outlets: Noon’s/Taco Maker, Play it, Maulers, Bob’s, Rocking Rudy’s, Worden’s, Flanagan Motors, Big Sky Brewing and GIR(office, skate shop, concessions).

We are asking YH, GHL and all user groups (MFCS, WHAM, UM Hockey, Maulers Hockey) to sell tickets out around the community and at all events at the rink starting ASAP. The net proceeds would go towards our building fund with the hope of starting more construction this summer. This a great opportunity for us to raise money for GIR! We would strongly encourage everyone to participate in selling  and/or buying tickets. PLEASE PARTICIPATE IN THIS FUNDRAISER!

 "Buy A Block" Fundraising Campaign
