COVID-19 Update and WHAM Winter Season

Winter WHAM is following Glacier Ice Rink's COVID-19 operating procedures. Teams may dress 11 skaters and a goalie.  Do NOT skate out if you have any symptoms of COVID-19, no matter how mild.   Because we know the teams are small, and skaters are likely to miss more games than during a regular season, we are not requiring teams to forfeit if they are low on skaters. No one should feel pressured to play while sick or power through cold symptoms. Stay home, and stay well. Play hockey with us when you're healthy :).

This year will be looking a little different.  With continued concerns of COVID-19 WHAM and Glacier Ice Rink are implementing new rules for participation safety.

Glacier Ice Rink Rules

  • To comply with Missoula City-County Health Department's phase two "places of assembly" requirements, no more than 25  people are allowed on the ice at one time.
  • To maintain the 25-person limit, teams are limited to dressing 10 skaters.
  • Staff will be positioned at the front door to count entrants and conduct pre-entry health assessments during public programs, youth hockey programs, and adult hockey leagues.
  • Anyone showing COVID-19 symptoms MAY NOT enter the facility.  Symptoms include shortness of breath, chills, cough, sore throat, unexplained muscle pain, vomiting, diarrhea, and loss of taste and smell.
  • All staff and patrols ages five and older are required to wear face coverings in all off-ice areas of the facility, including locker rooms and bathrooms.
  • Participants may enter the building no more than 15 minutes prior to their ice session and must vacate the building within 15 minutes after the session.
  • Patrons are asked to practice physical distancing and maintain a six-foot distance from others while in the lobby or other off-ice areas.
  • Events are scheduled with 30 minutes between programs to allow staff to cut the ice and wipe down benches and locker rooms between uses.
  • On-ice hockey participants should not celebrate goals with hugs or high-fives or participate in post-game handshakes
  • Benches - no spitting on the bench, no sharing water bottles.
  • No one may walk behind the benches or use the scorebox/sound system without permission from the staff.
